- Lubricate all parts, threads, and inside the tube with clean hydraulic oil.

Illustration 1 g01451780 - Install bands (7). Install backing rings (6). Install O-ring seals (8). Install piston (9) in the tube. Make sure that the end of piston (9) that looks like a cup is facing toward the top of the tube.

Install the piston until the piston makes contact with head (3) that is at the top of the tube. Make sure that all parts are lubricated on the remaining head (3). Install remaining head (3). Use Tooling (B) to tighten heads (3) to a torque of
217 ± 10 N·m (160 ± 7 lb ft) .Show/hide tableIllustration 4 g01451649 - Install valve (1). Install guard (2) into head (3). Charge the accumulator. Refer to Testing and Adjusting Manual, "Brake Accumulator - Test and Charge".
