Start By:

  1. Remove the ride control accumulators.

------ WARNING! ------

Personal injury can result from the sudden release of high pressure oil.

Be sure the engine has been shut off for a minimum of five minutes to be sure that the accumulator pressure is zero.

The accumulator is filled with dry nitrogen. Do not loosen or remove the valve or cap from the top of the accumulator. A purge screw at the bottom of the accumulator can be used to release the pressure that is left in the system.

  1. Remove guard (2). Install Tooling (A) to valve (1) to remove the nitrogen from the accumulator. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS5464, "Accumulator Discharging and Charging Procedures" for the correct procedure to release the nitrogen from the accumulator. When the nitrogen is removed then remove valve (1). Remove the seals from the valve.

  2. Install Tooling (B) to the head (3). Remove head (3). Repeat for opposite side.

  3. Remove O-ring seal (5) and backup seal (4) from head (3). Repeat for opposite side.

  4. Remove piston (9). Remove O-ring seal (8). Remove backing rings (6). Remove bands (7).
