Rotor Drive Differential - Disassemble
Disassembly Procedure

Start By:
- Remove the rotor drive differential. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rotor Drive Differential - Remove".
- Place the axle on suitable stands so the axle can be safely worked on.
- Remove the drain plug from the axle and drain the oil from the axle into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual for the correct procedure.
- Remove the electric shift unit.
- Remove the nuts, the bolts, and the washers that fasten the carrier to the axle housing.
- Mount the differential carrier assembly in a repair stand.
- Remove the lip seal and the spring.
- Remove the expansion plugs.
- Drive out shift fork (1) .

- Mark the adjuster and bearing caps (5) for installation purposes.

- Remove sliding clutch (6) .
- Remove the lockwire and remove two bearing cap bolts (4) from both sides.
- Remove bolts (2), lock (3), and adjuster (7) from both sides.
- Remove bearing cap (5) from both sides.
- Remove the bearing cups.
- Attach a suitable lifting device to ring gear (8) and differential assembly (9). Remove ring gear (8) and differential assembly (9). The weight of ring gear (8) and differential assembly (9) is approximately 73 kg (160 lb).

- Remove the bolts that fasten pinion cage assembly (11) to differential assembly (9) .

- Drive pinion cage assembly (11) out of differential assembly (9) .
- Remove pinion nut (10) .
- Invert differential assembly (9) from pinion cage assembly (11) .
- Use a suitable puller and remove yoke (12) from pinion cage assembly (11) .
- Support pinion cage assembly (11) in a suitable press. Remove pinion (13) from pinion cage assembly (11) .

- Remove lip seal (14) from pinion cage assembly (11) .
- Remove bearing cone (15) and spacer (16) from pinion cage assembly (11) .
- Use a suitable press and remove bearing cup (17) from pinion cage assembly (11) .

- Use a suitable press and remove bearing cup (18) from pinion cage assembly (11) .

- Use Tooling (A) and remove retaining ring (20) from pinion (13) .

- Install Tooling (B) between bearing (19) and pinion (13) .
- Install pinion (13) in a suitable press and remove bearing (19) .

- Repeat Steps 27 and 28 in order to remove bearing cone (21) from pinion (13) .
- Remove the bolts from ring gear (8), as shown. Remove housing (22) and thrust washer (23) .

- Remove the differential assembly from housing (24). Remove thrust washer (25) .

- Remove pins (27) and pinions (26) .

- Mark differential cases (29) for assembly purposes. Remove bolts (28) and separate differential cases (29) .

- Remove thrust washer (30), side gear (34), thrust washer (36), and side gear (33) .

- Use a suitable press and remove plate (37), as shown.
