Verify the Active Work Tool
The accuracy of the AccuGrade Site Reference System is dependent upon the work tool that is on the machine and the work tool information that is active in the AccuGrade system. The active work tool should be verified before operation begins.
- Use the "Cursor up" or the "Cursor down" buttons in order to select "Machine Linkage" from the main menu.

- Press "OK".
- A warning screen will appear indicating that incorrect work tool selection can reduce system performance. Press "OK" in order to acknowledge this warning. Refer to Illustration 2.

- Use the "Cursor up" or the "Cursor down" buttons in order to select "Work Tools".

- Press "OK".
- Use the "Cursor up" or the "Cursor down" buttons in order to select "Most Recent Tools".

- Press "OK".
- The active work tool has an "X" in the "Active Status" column. Refer to Illustration 5.

- Verify that the work tool that is listed as active, is the same as the work tool that is installed on the machine.
- Press the "Home" button in order to return to the main menu.
Note: Incorrect work tool selection can reduce the performance of the AccuGrade system. For information on activating a work tool, refer to the "Machine Linkage" that is in the "Setup Procedures" section of this document.
Set a Reference Point and Cut Depth
- Use the "Cursor up" or the "Cursor down" buttons in order to select the "Site Reference Sys" option.
- Press "OK". The "Reference Point - SRS" screen will appear.

- Use the "Cursor up" or the "Cursor down" buttons in order to select "Benchmark".

- Position the bucket teeth at the desired benchmark location. Press "OK" in order to accept the current position of the bucket as the reference point.
- The "Cut" screen will appear after the reference point has been set. Use the "Up/Left, Down/Right" buttons that are on the right side of the display or the buttons that are on the left side of the display in order to increment or decrement the elevation value. The value is set to the desired grade relative to the reference point. Refer to illustration 8.
Note: The buttons that are on the left side of the display are only capable of "large" incremental adjustments. The buttons that are on the right side of the display are capable of making "small" incremental adjustments.

- Press "OK".
- The AccuGrade Site Ref System guidance screen will appear. The AccuGrade guidance screen provides bucket location information. If no slope is needed, the operator can begin digging.
Note: A "Positive" value is referred to as a "Fill", which is above the reference point. A "Negative" value is referred to as a "Cut", which is below the reference point.
Note: The value that is entered for the "Cut" must match the current unit system selected by the system. Refer to the "Setup Procedures" section of this document for information on selecting the unit system.
Set a Slope
The operator can designate the slope of the trench by use of the "Slope" option. A "Positive" slope (61) is down and away from the backhoe. A "Negative" slope (60) is up and away from the backhoe. Refer to illustration 9.
- At the "AccuGrade" screen, use the "Cursor up" or the "Cursor down" buttons in order to highlight the "Slope" option. Refer to illustration 10.

- Press "OK".

- Use the "Up/Left, Down/Right" buttons that are on the right side of the display or the buttons that are on the left side of the display in order to select the desired "Slope" percent.
- Press "OK" in order to accept the slope value and return to the AccuGrade screen.

Note: If the slope is zero percent, then the trench will be a flat trench.
- The operator can now begin to dig. The display screen and the display lights can now be used for guidance.
