Installation Procedure

1. Position clamp assembly (9) in the center and one on each end of extension pipe (8).

2. Install clamp assembly (7) on the straight end of extension pipe (8).

3. Attach a suitable lifting device to extension pipe (8). Attach the lifting device to a suitable hoist. The weight of the extension pipe is approximately 38 kg (84 lb).

4. Position the extension pipe (8) onto the platform and behind the steering tank.

   Note: Only hand tighten bolts (10) that secure clamps (9) to the platform.

5. Align clamps (9) that secure the extension pipe (8) to the plate assemblies on the platform. Secure three clamps (9) to the plate assemblies with bolts (10).

6. Position the inlet ports (15) of the muffler assembly at approximately 30° from the bottom of the muffler assembly. Attach a suitable lifting device to muffler assembly (6). Attach the lifting device to a suitable hoist. The weight of the muffler assembly is approximately 327 kg (720 lb).

   Note: Muffler assembly (6) must also be in close proximity to the extension pipe (8).

7. Position the muffler assembly (6) above the platform. Lower the muffler into the correct position and check the alignment of the inlet ports (15) with the elbows.

8. If the elbow does not align with the inlet ports on muffler assembly (6), remove the muffler assembly from the lifting device and correct the angle of the inlet ports.

9. Once the correct angle for the muffler assembly (6) has been determined, install the following components in the inlet ports of the muffler assembly: pipe (17) and seal ring (18).

10. Position strap (11) around muffler assembly (6).

11. Install bolts (14) in order to secure the muffler strap (11) to the platform.

12. Loosely install nut (13) in order to secure the muffler strap (11) to platform (12).

13. Repeat the following Steps in order to install the remaining strap (11): 10, 11 and 12.

14. Slide extension pipe (8) onto muffler assembly (6). Slide clamp (7) onto extension pipe. Align the angled end of the extension pipe parallel to the platform.

15. Tighten clamp (7) in order to secure the extension pipe to the muffler assembly.

16. Once extension pipe (8) is positioned, tighten bolts (10) in order to secure clamps (9) to the platform.

17. Tighten nut (13) in order to secure the muffler assembly (6) to the platform (12).

18. Repeat Step 17 for remaining strap (12).

19. Attach a suitable lifting device to cover (2). Attach the lifting device to a suitable hoist. The weight of the cover is approximately 230 kg (507 lb).

20. Position cover (2) on the truck, as shown.

21. Install bolts (4) and (5) in order to secure the cover (2).

22. Position grab handles (3) on cover (2). Install bolts (1) in order to secure grab handles to the cover.

1. Remove the truck body retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".
