Installation Procedure

Note: Make sure that all mounting surfaces are clean prior to installation.

1. Fasten a suitable lifting sling to each side of the fixed axle, as shown. Fasten a hoist to both lifting slings. Raise the fixed axle into position. The weight of the fixed axle is 1225 kg (2700 lb).

2. Install bolts (7). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 1800 ± 200 N·m (1320 ± 150 lb ft).

3. Install plate (6) and bolts (5) to both sides of the fixed axle.

4. Put front drive shaft (3) in position in the differential and yoke (4). Install the straps and bolts (2). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 135 ± 15 N·m (100 ± 11 lb ft).

5. Connect hose assembly (1) and the tube assembly to the fixed axle.

End By:

1. Install the front tires and rims. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Tire and Rim (Front) - Remove and Install".

2. Purge the air from the braking system. Refer to Testing and Adjusting for the correct procedure.
