PROBLEM

The 3025790/">302-5790 Steering Accumulator Clamps need to be inspected and potentially replaced on certain 789D, 789D XQ, 793D, 793F, 793F AC, 793F CMD, 793F XQ, and 795F AC Off-Highway Trucks. The existing steering accumulator clamps can fail, causing the steering accumulator to become unsecured. This can lead to an abrupt loss of steering pressure.

ACTION REQUIRED

NOTE: This inspection should be repeated every 1000 hours until a permanent corrective action is identified.

Wash the unit in the area of the steering accumulators. See the image below for an example on a 793F Off-Highway Truck. Pay special attention to removing all material from the clamps. Visually, at close distance, inspect each clamp for signs of cracks, loosening or any other indications of failure. If no clamps have failed the unit may be returned to service. If any clamps are found to be cracked replace them with new parts. Only replace clamps that are broken. Unbroken clamp replacement is not covered by this Service Letter. Below are some examples of cracked clamps for reference.
