A secondary steering system needs to be added to certain PS-300B Compactors. Machines having a speed higher than 20 Km/H must be equipped with a secondary steering system to meet the C.E.E. Regulations. This Program replaces the June 6, 1998 Service Letter - PI3150.

Rework Procedure
HYDRAULIC COMPONENTS INSTALLATION
- - Disconnect the wires from the battery terminals
- - Open the left side ballast box.
Referring to Illustration 159-1659:
- - Weld the secondary steering pump support 159-1661 on the chassis
- - Install the secondary pump 159-1660 on its support.
Referring to Illustration 159-1658 2/3:
- - Drill 3 holes then install the Control GP 3E5184 and harness clamp.
Referring to Illustrations 159-1657:
- - Install the pressure check on the hydraulic filter. Then install the new connections and the switch 3E6450.
- - Install the new hoses:

- - Remove the driver seat and the console covers.
- - Remove the cover which protects the hoses behind the driver seat.
- - Connect the hose 121-8277 at port "P" of the steering control unit.
- - Route the hose as indicated and connect it to the elbow to be installed.
- - Remove the cover which protects the hoses behind the driver seat.
WIRING.
Referring to Illustrations 159-1658
- - Install ,connect and strap the provided main harness 165-6487. This harness is connected to the control group, to the alternator, to the secondary steering pump, to the pressure switch and to the ground
- - Install the horn.
- - Drill the 18mm hole in the dashboard. (Protect the inside wires to prevent damages.
- - Install the light on the dashboard and the film 147-7816.
- - Install, connect and strap the harness in the console.
- - Install the cable 138-8590.
- - Install the cable 5Y-1423.
- - Install the horn.
Reinstall the covers , the seat and close the ballast box.
IMPORTANT
- - Before reinstalling the platform rear cover make sure that there is no contact between the newly installed components and the sliding seat system.
- - Stick the Instruction film at the top RH of the front windshield.
TESTING
Turn the starting switch on position 1
The secondary steering pump will run 3 seconds, turn the steering wheel during this time, the front wheels must steer. After the first 3 second the secondary steering pump stops.
Any pressure drop of the main steering pump will start the secondary steering pump.
