Certain C9 Industrial Engines Can Over Speed After Start Up {1920}

Usage:

C9 REH
Industrial Engine
C9 INDUSTRIAL (S/N: REH1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Potentially, over speed occurs after startup when the operator gives a throttle command using J1939 TSC1 torque control. The problem occurs when using the 379-0977 Engine Ratings Electronic Software Gp.

Solution

Change the OEM control setting for "J1939 TSC1" from "Torque Control" to "Speed Control".

Use Cat ® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) to configure the following parameter for the engine ECM:

  • Set the configuration parameter "Run Out Control" to "ON"

These actions will eliminate the over speed problem until a final solution becomes available.
