Procedure to Rework Primary and Secondary Throttle Circuits on Certain C32 Marine Engines{1408}

Usage:

C32 RNX
Generator Set:
C32 (S/N: RNX1-824)
Marine Engine:
C32 (S/N: RNY1-2040; RNZ1-1175)

Introduction

On certain C32 Marine Engines the primary and the secondary throttle signals are pinned incorrectly on the latest revision to the 368-4961 Diode Gp . This problem only affects engines built without engine mounted control panels.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you read this information and you understand this information.

NOTICE

Proper installation of electrical components is necessary to prevent component damage. To prevent electrical component damage, turn the engine start switch to the OFF position before connecting or disconnecting electrical components. Failure to follow this procedure may result in electrical component damage.

Rework Procedure of the 368-4961 Diode Gp to Correctly Wire the Primary and Secondary Throttle Circuits

Illustration 1g03378957

The primary and secondary throttle circuits are configured incorrectly on the 368-4450 Engine Harness As and the 368-4451 Engine Harness As when used with the 368-4961 Diode Gp (1). In place of an engine mounted control box these affected engines are built with the 368-4961 Diode Gp as shown in Illustration 1.

Illustration 2g03378962

Note: Engines built with an "On Engine Control Box" (2), as shown in Illustration 2 are not affected and out of scope for this rework procedure.

  1. Cut the bulk wire into two 16 cm (6 inch) lengths (5) and install the four 126-1767 Connector Pins (4) and 9X-1813 Sleeve (3) as shown in Illustration 3.

    9X-1343 Connector Receptacle As

  1. Remove the four 8T-8737 Seal Plugs from pins 22, 23, 24, and 25 (6) in the 9X-1343 Connector Receptacle As . The connector receptacle is located on the left side of the engine in the 368-4961 Diode Gp . Refer to Illustrations 1 and 4.

Note: Only pins 21 and 25 are numbered in the row.

    (7) Pins 23 and 25

    (8) Pins 22 and 24

  1. Install the harness to connect the circuits between pins 23 and 25 (7) and pins 22 and 24 (8) as shown in illustration 5.

Note: The harness is shown without the sleeve for illustration purposes

  1. Perform a pull-test of 44 N (10 lb) on the end of each wire to ensure that the connector is locked into the receptacle.

The primary and secondary throttle circuits are now correctly configured to the Electronic Control Module (ECM).
