Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the valve mechanism covers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install".

1. Disconnect harness assemblies (3) from the electronic unit injectors.

2. Remove the bolts and bracket assemblies (1). Disconnect the harness assembly from valve mechanism cover base (2).

3. Remove bolts (4).

4. Remove valve mechanism cover base (2) and the seal.

Installation Procedure

Note: Before assembly, check the condition of the seal. If the seal is worn or damaged, use a new part for replacement.

1. Position the seal and valve mechanism cover base (2) on the cylinder head and install bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 18 ± 3 N·m (13 ± 2 lb ft) in the numerical sequence that is shown in Illustration 3.

2. Connect the harness assembly. Install bracket assemblies (1) and the bolts.

3. Position harness assemblies (3) on the electronic unit injectors. Tighten the cap nuts to a torque of 2.5 ± 0.25 N·m (22 ± 2 lb in).

End By:

1. Install the valve mechanism covers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Mechanism Cover - Remove and Install".
