Field Coil Driver Assembly |
The Field Coil Driver Assembly (1) provides DC current to the upper field coil and the lower field coil of each flywheel assembly. The assembly (1) consists of two field coil driver boards and a heat sink. The assembly (1) is located behind the swing out panel at the top of the cabinet for the flywheel.
Removal Procedure
Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654, "Internal Component Preremoval Steps (Flywheel Cabinet)" in order to shut down the system and gain access to internal components.
NOTICE |
---|
Electrostatic discharge can damage integrated circuits or semiconductors if you touch bus connector pins. When not in use, keep the module in the static-shield bag. Follow these guidelines when you handle any module: Touch a grounded object to discharge static potential. Wear an approved wrist-strap grounding device. Do not touch the bus connector or connector pins. Do not touch circuit components inside the module. If available, use a static-safe work station. |
- Disconnect all connectors. Refer to Illustration 3. Verify each label for each connector for subsequent installation.

- Remove the left front bolt and the right rear bolt that holds the assembly (1) to the top of the cabinet for the flywheel.
- Loosen the left rear bolt and the right front bolt that holds the assembly (1) to the top of the cabinet for the flywheel.
- Remove the assembly (1) off the loosened bolts in order to remove the assembly (1) from the cabinet.

- Position the assembly (1) under the two loosened bolts at the top of the cabinet for the flywheel.
- Tighten the two bolts.
- Install the remaining two bolts that hold the assembly to the top panel of the cabinet.
- Tighten the bolts to the appropriate specifications.
- Install all connectors to the boards. Verify the labeling on each connector with the location of the connector. Refer to Illustration 3.
- Calibrate the Field Coil Driver. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR9988, "Flywheel Field Coil Current - Calibrate".
