Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

(1) Transmission Oil Drain Plug |
Note: Allow the oil to cool before you work on the transmission system.
Note: Transmission oil drain plug (1) is located on the underneath side of the transmission.
- Remove oil drain plug (1).
Allow the transmission oil to drain into a suitable container.
Fill the Transmission System with Oil
- Clean drain plug (1). Install the drain plug.
- Remove the transmission oil filler cap provided by the OEM Manufacturer.

- Add the correct type of transmission oil. Add transmission oil until the transmission oil level is at the top of the center window on the sight gauge (4).

Note: Because the oil is cold, the oil level will take several minutes in order to stabilize in the sight gauge.
