Engine Lifting Bracket - Remove and Install

NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Turn OFF the fuel supply to the engine.

  2. Remove the protective cover from the lifting brackets. Mark the location of the lifting brackets.

  3. Remove tube assemblies (1). Use Tooling (A) to plug the openings in order to prevent debris from entering the fuel system.

  4. Remove nuts (3).

  5. Remove lifting bracket (2).

    Note: Store the lifting brackets in a clean dry place. Do not install the lifting brackets until it is necessary to lift the engine.

  6. Install Tooling (B) on each cylinder head stud.

  1. Remove Tooling (B) from each cylinder head stud.

  2. Install the engine lifting brackets on a 3606 Engine between the following cylinders:

    • Number 1 Cylinder and Number 2 Cylinder

    • Number 5 Cylinder and Number 6 Cylinder

  3. Install the engine lifting brackets on a 3608 Engine between the following cylinders:

    • Number 1 Cylinder and Number 2 Cylinder

    • Number 7 Cylinder and Number 8 Cylinder

  4. Apply Tooling (C) on the threads of the cylinder head studs.

  5. Put engine lifting bracket (2) in position on the cylinder head studs. Install nuts (3). Tighten the nuts to a torque of 2150 ± 250 N·m (1590 ± 185 lb ft).

    Note: The brackets must be installed so that the pin holes in the clevis are in a horizontal plane.

  6. Install tube assemblies (1).

  7. Turn ON the fuel supply.
