Fuse Location

The lower left panel of the flywheel cabinet contains two precharge fuses, F10 and F11. The lower left panel of the flywheel cabinet also contains fuses for each fan in the flywheel cabinet, F1, F2, and F3. Refer to Illustration 1 for the location of the precharge and fan fuses.

The top of the flywheel cabinet contains four "Field Coil Driver" (FCD) fuses and 5 DC bus fuses. Refer to Illustration 2 for the field coil driver and the DC bus fuse locations. Wire diagrams for the lower left panel fuses are shown in Figure 371. Wire diagrams for the FCD and DC Bus fuses are shown in Figure 371.

Fuse Removal

  1. Perform the steps outlined in Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654-00, "Internal Component Pre-Removal Steps" in order to place the flywheel cabinet in a de-energized state and gain access to the internal components.

The flywheel cabinet must be in a de-energized state before removal steps can be performed.

  1. Remove the fuse switch from the fuse to be replaced by unscrewing the two (2) cross tip screws. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654-00, "Flywheel DC Bus Fuse Status Indicators" for more information on the Status Indicators.

  1. Remove the two bolts holding the fuse to the input and output contacts.

Fuse Installation

  1. Position the fuse across the input and output connectors.

  1. Fasten the fuse with the hardware as shown in 6. Verify the proper bolt length for each fuse installed.

  1. Attach the fuse switch to the fuse with two cross tip screws. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, RENR7654-00, "Flywheel DC Bus Fuse Status Indicators" for more information on the Status Indicators.

  1. Tighten all bolt to fuse connections to 11 N·m (100 lb in).
