Cracks May Occur In Push Arm Bearing Assembly Welds

Usage:

TRACK-TYPE TRACTORSD11R (9TR),
D11R CARRYDOZER (9XR) TRACK-TYPE TRACTORS

Problem:

Reports have been received from the field that cracks may occur between the adapter and the toe of the weld for the 126-4199 Bearing Assembly. High carbon content in the casting process may be the cause of failure in these welds.

Solution:

1. Inspect area (A) for any evidence of cracking.
2. Remove any material in order to completely remove the crack. Use dye penetrant to ensure that all crack is removed. Grind to prepare the surface for welding.
3. Use Ni Rod to replace the weld removed. (Ni Rod will help to remove excess carbon that may exist in the adapter.)

4. 3/8 Toe grind all around weld with a 10 mm dia ( inch) minimum spherical grinding tool as shown to a minimum dimension (B) of 0.8 mm (.03 inch) and a maximum dimension of 3.0 mm (.12 inch). No visible weld discontinuities are permitted after grinding. If visible discontinuities exist after grinding to maximum dimension of 3.0 mm, the weld must be removed, rewelded and reground.
