Problem:

The wire harness may contact the muffler support. Symptoms of this problem are:

The hour meter may stop registering.
Alternator failure. If the alternator fails, the voltage regulator shorts.

Solution:

Remove the tie strap at the muffler support. Check the wire harness for any wear and repair if necessary. See Chart 1 for the parts required.

Installation Procedure

1. Drill the existing hole (A) to 9 mm (.355 in) diameter.
2. Install the 4P-8134 Clip (1) to the muffler support using a 8T-4189 Bolt (2), 8T-4224 Washer (3), and 5C-7261 Nut(4). See illustration 1.
3. Install a 3S-2093 Tie Strap (5) to the 4P-8134 Clip (1) and the Wire Harness.
