New Shield Assemblies Used In Water Shielded Manifold Group{1067}

Usage:

D379 ( 68B ),
D398 ( 66B ) And D399 ( 35B ) Industrial Engines

Description of Change: New shield assemblies are used in the water shielded manifold group on D379, D398 and D399 Industrial Engines. The inner shield assemblies have a thicker end plate and a larger boss to make them stronger. The new parts will give a reduction in stress and prevent cracks in the area around the boss. See the illustration.

The new outer shield assemblies have plugs (spacers) welded between the plates on the inside of the water passage. The plugs hold the plates together and prevent distortion of the plates if there is too much water pressure. Formerly, it was possible for distortion of the plates to cause weld failures and leaks.

Adaptable To: The new shield assemblies are a direct replacement for the former parts.
