Service Meter Correction Decal Available{7478,7480}

Usage:

All Machines Equipped With 6N5906, 7N23, 9G6762 Or 7N864 Service Meters

The correct number of service hours is necessary for the maintenance, warranty and SIMS records for all Caterpillar machines.

Some times the indication on the Service Meter is not correct, because of a Service Meter failure or a Service Meter that has been disconnected.

A Service Meter Correction Decal, Form No. SEHS7785, is available to put on the face of a new Service Meter or one that has had repairs. The decal can be used on machines equipped with a 6N5906, 7N23, 9G6762 or a 7N864 Service Meter. The decal must be cut to fit the faces on 9G6762 and 7N864 Service Meters.

Correction Factor

To find the correction factor, look at the SIMS and owner's records, and the machine's record. Make an estimate of the average hours per month, and, then, talk to the owner or operator to find information, like down time, for the time since the last report or record. Adjust the estimate according to this information.

If a new Service Meter is installed, the correction factor will be the number of hours the machine was in operation before the new Service Meter is installed. To find this, make an estimate, through use of the above information, of the hours the machine has been in operation since the Service Meter failure and add these hours to the hours shown on the bad meter. This is the conversion factor. Write it in the shiny area on the decal.

If repairs have been made to the electrical circuit for the Service Meter, use the information to estimate the number of hours the machine was in operation during the time the Service Meter did not work. This is the conversion factor. Write it in the shiny area on the decal.

Installation Of Decal

Clean the face of the meter. Remove the center part of the decal. Remove the back paper and install the decal on the face of the meter.

Use Of Service Meter Correction Decal

To find the number of hours a machine has operated, add the conversion factor to the meter indication.

Important: Write A Sims Report After Installation Of Service Meter Correction Decal

It is important to write a SIMS report after installation of a Service Meter correction decal. In the "HOURS" space, write the total number of hours on the machine, including the conversion factor.

Under "PART NUMBER CAUSING PROBLEM," write the part number of the Service Meter which had a failure. Under "GROUP NUMBER CONTAINING PART," write the Gauge And Warning Group Number for the machine.

UNDER "OPTIONAL COMMENTS," write "HR CORR" and the conversion factor.

Write the remainder of the report as normally done.
