Hydraulic Tank - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Release the hydraulic system pressure.


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Remove bolts (2) and remove cover (1) that is located under the hydraulic oil tank.

  2. Drain the hydraulic oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

  3. Open hood assemblies (3).

  4. Remove bolts (5), bolt (6), bolt (7), and sheet assembly (4).

  5. Remove bolts (10) and sheet assembly (8).

  6. Remove bolts (11) and cover sheet assembly (9).

  7. Remove bolts (13) and sheet assembly (12).

  8. Remove bolts (15), step assembly (16), and sheet assembly (14).

  9. Disconnect harness assemblies (18) and cut cable straps (17) securing harness assemblies (18) to the hydraulic oil tank. Position harness assemblies (18) out of the way.

  10. Remove bolts (19) and disconnect pipe assembly (20) from the hydraulic oil tank.

  11. Remove bolts (22) and cover assembly (21).

  12. Disconnect hose assemblies (24).

  13. Remove bolts (23) and position support assembly (25) out of the way.

  14. Open door assembly (26).

  15. Disconnect hose assemblies (27).

  16. Disconnect harness assembly (28) and harness assembly (29). Cut the cable straps that secure harness assembly (28) and harness assembly (29) to the hydraulic oil tank. Position harness assembly (28) and harness assembly (29) out of the way.

  17. Remove bolts (30) and disconnect pipe assembly (32).

  18. Remove bolts (31).

  19. Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to hydraulic oil tank (33). The weight of hydraulic oil tank (33) is approximately 305 kg (672 lb).

  20. Remove bolts (34) and bolts (35). Remove hydraulic oil tank (33).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install hydraulic oil tank (33) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (31), bolts (34), and bolts (35).

    2. Tighten bolts (19) to a torque of 50 ± 10 N·m (37 ± 7 lb ft).

    3. Apply Tooling (C) to the threads of bolts (2).
