Front Idler, Recoil Spring and Hydraulic Track Adjuster - Remove

Usage:

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Separate the track assemblies. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Separate".

  1. Use a pry bar and move front idler (1), recoil spring (2), and the hydraulic track adjuster partially out of the track roller frame. Attach a suitable lifting device to front idler (1), as shown.

  1. Once front idler (1), recoil spring (2), and the hydraulic track adjuster is partially out of the track frame, reposition the suitable lifting device in order to support recoil spring (2), the hydraulic track adjuster, and front idler (1) .

  1. Slide front idler (1), recoil spring (2), and the hydraulic track adjuster out of the track roller frame as one unit. The weight of the unit is approximately 204 kg (450 lb).

  1. Leave the suitable lifting device attached and turn front idler (1), recoil spring (2), and the hydraulic track adjuster around 180 degrees.

  1. Install front idler (1) partially into the track frame. Front idler (1), recoil spring (2), and the hydraulic track adjuster will be supported by the track frame.

  1. Reposition the suitable lifting device in order to support recoil spring (2) and the hydraulic track adjuster.

  1. Remove bolts (3) that hold front idler (1) to recoil spring (2), and the hydraulic track adjuster together.

  1. Separate recoil spring (2) and the hydraulic track adjuster from front idler (1). Front idler (1) will be supported by the track frame.

  1. The weight of recoil spring (2) and the hydraulic track adjuster as a unit is approximately 95 kg (210 lb).

  1. Attach a suitable lifting device to front idler (1), as shown.

  1. Remove front idler (1) from the track roller frame. The weight of front idler (1) is approximately 109 kg (240 lb).

Note: Refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Guide, SEBF8599 for the procedure to disassemble the idler and for the procedure to assemble the idler.
