NOTICE

Accumulated grease and oil on a work tool is a fire hazard.

Remove debris with steam cleaning or high pressure water at any time a significant quantity of oil is spilled on the work tool.


Note: If major repairs to the Work Tool are required, consult your Caterpillar dealer.

  1. For the maximum service life of the Work Tool, make a thorough walk-around inspection before you mount the machine and before you start the machine.

  1. Inspect the Work Tool for the following conditions: loose bolts, worn teeth, broken parts and worn parts. Inspect the Work Tool for missing parts. Check the overall condition of the Work Tool.

  1. Inspect the jaws of the Work Tool. Remove all scrap from the jaws.

  1. Inspect the welds, the pins, and the bores for damage. If the components are damaged, consult your Caterpillar dealer.

  1. Perform all repairs before you put the Work Tool into service.

  1. Check safety signs and labels.

  1. Lubricate pins.
