Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the electric starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".

1. Remove speed sensor (1) from flywheel housing (2).

2. Use Tooling (A) in order to position one of eight holes (4) toward the top of flywheel (3).

3. Remove two bolts (5) from flywheel (3).

4. Install Tooling (B) and remove remaining bolts (5) from flywheel (3).

5. Attach Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device to flywheel (3). Remove flywheel (3). The weight of flywheel (3) is approximately 54 kg (120 lb).

6. Use a brass punch in order to remove ring gear (6) from flywheel (3).
