This Program must be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS43149" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

PROBLEM

The existing seal may have been assembled without the proper coating which could allow the seal to be pinched or damaged during installation on certain 345D Excavators. The correct seal has a red teflon coating to prevent damage during installation.

Rework Procedure


 
At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oils can cause burns.
To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the work tool hydraulic circuit (boom, stick, bucket, and swing), travel circuits, and the hydraulic oil tank at the filler cap before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil to contact the skin. Also, do not allow hot components to contact the skin.
Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.
Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.

1. Park the machine on level ground. Lower the bucket to the ground with the stick in a vertical position. Refer to Image 1.1.1.

2. Slowly loosen the filler plug on the hydraulic tank and release the pressure from the hydraulic tank. Leave the filler plug loose for a minimum of 45 seconds. This will release the pressure that may be present in the return hydraulic circuit.

3. Tighten the filler plug on the hydraulic tank to the specified torque.

4. Pressure must be relieved from the 310-0150 Boom Lowering Load Control Regeneration Valve before the sensor is removed. After following the procedure for relieving pressure in the hydraulic systems above then relieve the pressure in the Boom Lowering Load Control Regeneration Valve by loosening the plug (1) on the top of the valve to bleed pressure to the tank. Refer to Image 1.2.1 to identify the correct plug.

5. Disconnect harness (2) from sensor connector (3). Disconnect the sensor connector (3) from the clip (4).

6. Remove the pressure sensor (5) from the valve body. Replace the 3K-0360 O-ring with a new 3K-0360 O-ring with the red color.

7. Apply a thin film of hydraulic oil to the male threads on the sensor before assembling. Attach the sensor with the new 3K-0360 O-ring to the valve body and tighten to a torque of 100 +/- 10 Nm.

8. Attach the sensor connector (3) to the clip (4). Plug the harness (2) into the sensor connector (3). Refer to Image 1.4.1.
