ACTION REQUIRED

1. Check that all bolt torques are higher than 1600 Nm.
a. Set the torque wrench to the proper torque value.
b. Make a mark on the head of the bolt that is relative to the carbody or the bearing race.
c. Apply the specified torque of 1600 Nm to the bolt.
d. If the head of the bolt does not move, the torque is within the specification.
e. If the head of the bolt moves, the bolt was loose. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly Manual, RENR8616, portion "Upper Frame and Undercarriage Frame" for the correct procedure on checking the torque and the proper tools needed.
2. In the case of finding a loose or broken bolt, replace all 37 bolts and spacers with new 171-9325 Bolts and new 171-9318 or 199-4501 Spacers. Clean all parts, apply anti-seize compound (5P-3931) and tighten to a torque of 2100+/-200 Nm.
3. Use the following procedure to report locations of loose/broken bolts:
- Attach a picture(s) of loose/broken bolts in the SIMS Claims report. Go to SIMSi, and select the "SERVICE REPORTING" tab. Select "ADD SERVICE IMAGE".
- In the claim description, specify the location and number of bolt(s) that was (were) loose or broken according to attached diagram (see Image). Standing in the rear (cw) side numbers increase towards the left track. The inspection report attached to the claim is required in order to provide feedback to the Hydraulic Excavator Product Support Group.
