Quick Coupler Harness Receptacle May Pinned Wrong and Quick Coupler Switch May Malfunction on Certain 986K Wheel Loaders {1408}

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

Quick coupler switch may function opposite to what was labeled, and the alarm will activate when the switch is in engaged position. This issue is due to 486-8007 Cab Harness As (Quick Coupler harness) receptacle pinned in wrong position.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of this issue and is recommending the following interim solution. In case of failure, dealers can create a GDSN Product Health Service Request (SR). In the description field, reference this CPI #443573 and TIB media number M0105595. Include all relevant information prior to submitting to Caterpillar for further assistance and instructions to correct the harness.
