795FAC XQ (S/N: SNT1-UP)
797F (S/N: LAJ1-UP; LTZ1-UP)

An improved venting procedure is now published for C175 Off-Highway Truck Engines. The improved procedure provides more consistent venting of air at start-up after the cooling system has been drained.

Proper venting of air from the cooling system ensures adequate coolant flow to the water pump seals during startup.

Note: Failure to vent the cooling system properly will result in decreased water pump life and risk of water pump leakage. The cooling system must be properly vented after any maintenance event in which the cooling system has been drained below the level of the engine cylinder heads.

The new procedure can be found in the Operation and Maintenance Manual , Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change procedure, under the section Air Purge Procedure Using Cat ET.
