Description Of Change: Front axle mounting pin assembly has been improved on the machines listed above. The dimension of the plate on axle pin has been increased. This will minimize the clearance between the plate on the pin and the retainer plate on the frame.

Adaptable To: The following changes are adaptable to the products within the listed serial numbers, and are effective with all products after the listed serial numbers.

Table 1
Required Parts
Item  Qty  Part Number  Part Name
495-0675 (1) or 495-0677(1)  Pin As
(1) The part number has not been changed

(B) New design
(D1) 17.5 mm (0.69 inch)
(D2) 19.0 mm (0.75 inch.)

For the affected machines in the field, either replace the pin assembly with the improved part number or follow the rework procedure below.

Rework Procedure

  1. Remove the batteries from the front of the machine to access the front axle retaining pin.

    (B) 495-0680 Plate

  2. Remove the two bolts (A) from the plate (B), and remove the plate (B) as shown in Illustration 2.

    (C) Pin As
    (D) Retainer

  3. Measure the top clearance and the bottom clearance between the pin assembly (C) and the retainer (D) as shown in Illustration 3.

  4. Add the dimensions of the top clearance and the bottom clearance to get the total pin clearance. If the total pin clearance is more than 3.0 mm (0.19 inch), then continue with the rework procedure.

  5. If the pin clearance is more than 3.0 mm (0.19 inch) increase the width of the flag on the pin by welding.

  6. In order to create weld on the flag of the pin, support the front of the machine with the stands and pull the pin (C) out enough to give clearance for welding. Add weld across the pin flag to increase the width as shown in Illustration 4.

  7. Using a grinder, grind the welds to the required width to fit the size of the keeper in the frame.

  8. Make sure to keep the clearance not more than 2.0 mm (0.08 inch) in total ( 1.0 mm (0.04 inch) on each side) as shown in Illustration 5.

Note: Ensure that the welds are clean, strong, and same width as the pin flag.

  9. Reinstall the plate (B), the two bolts (A) as shown in Illustration 6.

  10. Reinstall the batteries and remove the stands from under the machine.
