Propel System General Information

The drums and wheels on the machines are hydrostatically driven. The propel drive system consists of a piston-type pump and radial-piston motors. Each motor is equipped with an integral spring applied, hydraulically released brake.

On dual-drum machines, the drive system consists of the following components:

  • A single variable-displacement piston-type pump

  • Two radial-piston motors, one on each drum

  • A spring applied, hydraulically released brake on each drum

On single-drum machines, the drive system consists of the following components:

  • A single variable-displacement piston-type pump

  • A radial-piston motor on the front drum

  • Two radial-piston motors, one on each wheel assembly

  • A spring applied, hydraulically released brake on the drum and each wheel assembly

The steering pump supplies charge oil to the propel system.
