(4) Sensor for Engine Speed Switch (A)

(5) Flywheel ring gear

Use the following procedure in order to adjust the clearance between the flywheel ring gear and the electronic sensors.

  1. While the engine is stopped, check the position of the gear tooth. Ensure that the tooth of the flywheel ring gear is centered in the opening for the sensor.

  1. Install the electronic sensor. Ensure that the electronic sensor is in contact with the tooth of the flywheel ring gear.

Note: Some electronic sensors have flat bottoms and some electronic sensors have small tips. If the electronic sensor has a small tip, ensure that the tip contacts the center (highest point) of the gear tooth.

  1. Unscrew the electronic sensor.

Unscrew the electronic sensor to the following amount. ... 1 to 1 1/4 turns

  1. Tighten the locknut.

    Tighten the locknut to the following torque. ... 45 ± 7 N·m (33 ± 5 lb ft)

The adjusted clearance should be the following range. ... 1.41 to 1.76 mm (0.056 to 0.069 inch)
