9. Rack Sensor Calibration

Usage:

NOTE: The Electronic Locomotive Control System installation must be complete before the rack sensor can be calibrated.

1. Turn on the power to the control system.

2. Look at the diagnostic lights on the Electronic Locomotive Control Box (1).


ELECTRONIC LOCOMOTIVE CONTROL BOX
(1) Electronic Locomotive Control Box. (2) Personality Module. (3) Plug.

3. The fourth light from the bottom of the decal must be ON, if not, the personality module (2) is not in the calibrate mode. Remove plug (3) marked CAL on personality module (2). Turn switch (4) counterclockwise until it clicks. The fourth light from the bottom will come ON, which indicates the personality module is in the calibrate mode.


PERSONALITY MODULE
(4) Switch.

4. Move the rack actuator lever down until the rack stop lever is in contact with the rack stop screw and hold firmly in this position. Observe the lights on the electronic locomotive control box.


CALIBRATION CORRECT


TURN CAL ADJUST IN


TURN CAL ADJUST OUT

5. If the light code indicates CALIBRATION CORRECT, no adjustment is needed.

6. If the light code indicates TURN IN or TURN OUT, remove the back cover from the rack sensor module.


RACK SENSOR MODULE (BACK COVER REMOVED)
(5) LOCK NUT. (6) ADJUSTING SLEEVE.

7. Loosen locknut (5), and with the rack stop lever in contact with the rack stop screw, turn adjusting sleeve (6) in or out according to the light code until the CALIBRATION CORRECT code lights come ON. The calibration is now correct.

8. Tighten locknut (5) and check if calibration is still correct. Readjust if needed.

9. Install the back cover on the rack sensor module.

10. Turn switch (4) on the personality module clockwise until it clicks. The fourth light from the bottom of the decal must go OFF.

11. Install plug (3) in personality module.
