Seat Belt - Inspect

Usage:

797F LAJ
Always inspect the condition of the seat belt and the seat belt mounting hardware before you operate the machine. Replace any parts that are damaged or worn before you operate the machine.

Start By:

a. Prepare the machine for maintenance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Prepare the Machine for Maintenance".

  1. Inspect the seat belt buckle. If the buckle is worn or damaged, discard and replace the seat belt. Contact your Cat dealer for the replacement of the seat belt and the mounting hardware.

  1. Inspect the seat belt webbing. If the seat belt webbing is worn or frayed, discard and replace the seat belt. Contact your Cat dealer for the replacement of the seat belt and the mounting hardware.

  1. Inspect the seat belt mounting bolts. If a bolt is worn or damaged, discard and replace the bolt.

  2. Tighten the mounting bolts to the proper torque.

    Note: The following steps are only for machines equipped with a seat belt extension.

  1. Inspect the mounting hardware for the seat belt extension assembly. If any hardware is worn or damaged, discard and replace the hardware.

  2. Tighten the upper mounting bolts to the proper torque.

  3. Tighten the lower mounting bolt and nut to the proper torque.

    Note: The date of installation is indicated on labels attached to the seat belt retractor and the buckle. The date of manufacture is indicated on the belt webbing label, buckle housing, or installation tags (non-retractable belts).

  1. Check the date of installation labels.

    • Discard and replace the belt within 3 years of the date of installation.

    • If a date of installation label is missing, discard and replace the belt within 3 years of the year of manufacture.

    Contact your Cat dealer for the replacement of the seat belt and the mounting hardware.
