Starting The Engine

Usage:

1. Depress brake pedal and apply brake lock (right pedal on lever steer machines).

2. Lower bucket to ground.

3. Move all hydraulic controls to HOLD.

4. Move transmission selector to NEUTRAL.

5. Apply transmission selector safety lock.

6. Turn disconnect switch ON.

7. Push in and turn HEAT-START switch to HEAT for indicated time (see Starting Aid Chart).

8. Push in and turn HEAT-START switch to START. Release switch as soon as engine starts.
9. When engine starts, it may be necessary to return HEAT-START switch to HEAT until engine runs smoothly.

Starting With Boost

------ WARNING! ------

Attach ground cable last, and remove first, to prevent sparks from occurring near the battery which could cause battery vapors to explode. Attach ground cable from booster battery to frame of machine to be started at a point away, and below the battery on the machine to be started.

NOTICE

When using jumper cables, be sure to connect in parallel: POSITIVE (+) to POSITIVE (+) and NEGATIVE (-) to NEGATIVE (-).

Never switch to HEAT when engine is warm and running.


When Starting Fluid is Required

SAFETY

Use only in well ventilated area. Follow directions on can.

1. Switch to HEAT for time indicated on chart, page 12.

2. Switch to START.

3. Spray starting fluid sparingly into air cleaner - spray only while cranking.

4. When engine starts it may be necessary to return switch to HEAT until engine runs smoothly.

5. Release switch as soon as engine runs smoothly.

NOTICE

If engine again does not start, let starter cool 2 minutes then repeat starting procedure.
