PROBLEM
The Engine ECM needs to have the flash file replaced on certain C4.4 industrial engines to provide increased torque to improve machine performance. The existing flash file can result in low torque characteristics. |

Now Select the "Emissions Certification Replacement" in the box headed Label Forms . This is shown circled in red in Image 1.3.1 |

Once you have the label, complete the following rework procedure: Engine Reflash: Tools Required: PC or lap top with CAT ET installed and licensed (Version 2007A minimum) Communication Adaptor with diagnostic connector. Flashfile required for these engines is part no. 314-6753. Process: 1. Save the correct Flashfiles to your local hard drive. 2. Connect to the ECM using Service Tool (CAT ET). 3. Make sure the ECM is powered up (Check that Red light on Comm. adapter is illuminated). 4. Go to "Winflash" or "Flash Memory". 5. CAT ET will re-connect to the ECM. 6. Using the browse function in the top right hand corner, select the new flashfile, which you should have saved to your hard drive. 7. Select "Begin Flash" (bottom right hand corner). 8. Once Flashing is complete select "CAT ET". 9. The Personality Module Mismatch Message should appear, select the OK button. 10. The factory password screen should now appear. 11. Use https://fps.cat.com to obtain factory passwords. 12. Enter Factory Passwords. 13. CAT ET High Level Configuration screen should be displayed. 14. Re-flash complete. Carry out the adjustment of the trim files according to the attached table in image 1.4.1, FLS and FTS will need to be adjusted according to the table and the engine serial number. |
