Usage:
START BY:
a. remove service meter
1. Disconnect the cable assemblies from adapter assembly (1).
2. Remove the bolts and clamps (2). Pull adapter assembly (1) from the cover assembly.
3. Remove all of bolts (3), (4), (6), cover assembly (5) and the gasket from the flywheel housing. Make a note as to the location of longer bolts (4) and (6) for correct installation.
4. Remove the lip-type seal from the larger bore of cover (5). Remove dowels (7) and bearing (8) from the cover.
5. Remove shaft (9) from the adapter assembly.
6. Remove bolts (10), and remove adapter assembly (11) from the camshaft.
7. If necessary, remove the dowels from adapter assembly (11).
Install Tachometer Drive
1. Make sure dowels (1) extend 9.5 ± 0.5 mm (.37 ± .02 in.) above the surface of adapter assembly (2). Put adapter assembly (2) in position on the end of the camshaft, and install the two bolts to hold it in place. Tighten the bolts evenly to a torque of 100 ± 15 N·m (74 ± 11 lb.ft.). Hit the adapter assembly with a hammer, and tighten the bolts again to the same torque. Do this until the torque does not change.
2. Install shaft (3) in adapter assembly (2).
3. Use tool group (A), and install the bearing in cover (4) until it is 26 ± 1 mm (1.02 ± .04 in.) below the surface of the cover.
4. Use tool group (A) to install the seal in cover (4) until the seal makes contact with the bottom of the bore in cover (4). Make sure the lip of the seal is toward the bearing. Put a light amount of clean engine oil on it.
5. Install the dowels in cover (4) until they extend 6.0 ± 0.5 mm (.24 ± .02 in.) above the surface of the cover.
6. Put the gasket and cover (4) in position, and install the bolts in their correct locations to hold the cover to the flywheel housing.
7. Make sure the seal is in position on adapter assembly (5). Put clean engine oil on the seal, and install adapter assembly (5) in the cover. Make sure the shaft of the adapter assembly engages in the groove (slot) on the end of shaft (3). Install the bolts and clamps to hold adapter assembly (5) to the cover.
8. Connect the cable assemblies to adapter assembly (5).
