Fuel Injection Lines

Usage:

Remove & Install Fuel Injection Lines (Marine Engine)

1. Thoroughly clean the area around each fuel line connection before any fuel lines are removed.

2. Remove fuel lines (1), (2), (3) and (4) as unit. Remove fuel lines (7) (8), (9) and (10) as a unit. Remove fuel lines (5), (6), (11) and (12) as a unit.

3. Put caps on all openings and plugs in all fuel lines to keep dirt or foreign material out of the fuel system.

NOTE: The following step is for installation of the fuel injection lines.

4. Remove the plugs and caps and install the fuel lines in their respective pistons. Tighten fuel line nuts to a torque of 40 ± 7 N·m (30 ± 5 lb ft).

Remove & Install Fuel Injection Lines (Industrial Engine)

1. Thoroughly clean the area around each fuel line connection before any fuel lines are removed.

2. Disconnect fuel lines (1) at the fuel injection pumps and at the cylinder heads. Disconnect fuel lines at block (2) and at the fuel filter base (3). Remove the two bolts (4) from the inlet manifold that hold the fuel lines. Remove fuel lines (1).

3. Put caps on all openings and plugs in all fuel lines to keep dirt or foreign material out of the fuel system.

NOTE: The following step is for installation of the fuel injection lines.

4. Remove the plugs and caps and install the fuel lines in their respective positions. Tighten fuel line nuts to a torque of 40 ± 7 N·m (30 ± 5 lb ft).

Remove & Install Fuel Injection Lines (Marine Engine With Turbocharger)

1. Disconnect vent tube (3) from fittings (1) and (2).

2. Loosen the clamps and disconnect hose (4) from the crankcase ventilator valve on the right side of the engine.

3. Remove bolt (5) that holds the fuel line bracket in position.

4. Thoroughly clean the area around each fuel line connection before any fuel lines are disconnected.

5. Put identification on the fuel lines as to their location on the fuel injection pumps and adapters.

NOTICE

Put protection caps (5F2807) and plugs (2F2990) on all lines and pumps to keep dirt and foreign material out of the fuel system.

6. Disconnect fuel injection lines (6) and (7) from the fuel injection pump and adapters. Remove fuel injection lines (6), (7) and vent tube (3) from the engine as a unit.

7. Disconnect the remainder of fuel injection lines (8) from the fuel injection pump and adapters and remove them from the engine as a unit.

NOTE: The following steps are for installation of the fuel injection lines.

8. Remove the plugs and caps from the fuel injection lines, pumps, and adapters.

9. Make sure the fuel injection lines are clean and dry. Put fuel injection lines (8) in position on the engine and connect them to their respective fuel injection pumps and adapters.

10. Put fuel injection lines (6), (7), and vent tube (3) in position on the engine. Connect fuel injection lines (6) and (7) to their respective pumps and adapters.

11. Make sure all fuel injection line nuts are tightened to a torque of 40 ± 7 N·m (30 ± 5 lb ft).

12. Connect vent tube (3) to fittings (1) and (2).

13. Connect hose (4) to the crankcase ventilation valve and tighten the clamps to a torque of 2.3 ± 0.2 N·m (20 ± 2 lb in).

14. Remove (bleed) the air from the fuel system.

NOTICE

If new fuel lines are used for replacement, remove the identification tags from the lines. The tags can cause wear on the fuel injection lines.
