Adaptability/Serviceability
Oval Sprocket Tractors, Loaders, & Excavators: D7G, 977, 235
? The new link assembly maintains the same inner and outer link spreads, and fits onto existing track rollers, idlers, and carrier rollers. The track pin length is the same, so the new link assembly is interchangeable within existing track-guiding guards (end, center, and full length).
? The new track link is 9.5 mm (0.37?) taller than the former SALT link. This will cause the front idler to retract slightly further when the new track is installed. So, care must be taken not to overbuild the idlers. An overbuilt idler may prevent a new track from being fastened together, even with the track adjuster cylinder fully collapsed.
? The new track bushing has a larger outside diameter, which requires use with the new geometry, tough steel segment. Segment mounting hardware is the same
? New sealed Hybrid link assemblies on the D7G and 235 Excavator have a larger outer diameter bushing than the former bushing. See Attachment II for new bushing wear chart. Sealed Hybrid track on 235 Excavator can only be used with worn (current rim part number 7T-1311) sprockets, or new (new rim part number 248-2041) sprockets.
? The standard shoe bolt pattern with 3/4" bolts and mounting hardware are the same. The master shoe bolt mounting hardware has increased to 7/8?. The following are options for the master shoe:
o Order new master shoe with 7/8? bolt holes, see track shoe table Attachment I or refer to page 434 in 4th Edition of the PSK.
o Order new master shoe with 7/8? bolt holes, see track shoe table Attachment I or refer to page 434 in 4th Edition of the PSK. If needed burn grouser to match the worn grouser height of the standard shoes
o If you plan to reuse your current master shoe, you must drill the holes larger to accommodate the 7/8 in bolts, refer to Special Instruction Form REHS1746 for master shoe rework.
o Regarding the current self-cleaning master shoe 6P-2648, special instruction for reworking current shoe or a new shoe will be released soon.
? Due to the Hybrid consolidated improvements, individual piece parts within the link assembly are not interchangeable.
Hystat Loaders: 973
? The new link assembly maintains the same inner and outer link spreads, and fits onto current 973 track rollers, idlers, and carrier rollers. The track pin length is the same, so the new link assembly is interchangeable within existing 973 end and full-length track guiding guards.
? The new track bushing has a larger outside diameter, which requires use with the new geometry, tough steel segment. Segment mounting hardware is the same.
? Due to the Hybrid consolidated improvements, individual piece parts within the link assembly are not interchangeable.

Custom Track Service (CTS)
Oval Track Tractors, Loaders, & Excavators: D7G, 977, 235
? The new Hybrid track has a taller link, providing approx. 15% more link wear life. A new CTS wear chart is attached (see Attachment II) for the new, taller link.
? This applies to Tractors and Loaders, although not required, Extended Wear Life (EWL) track rollers and idlers should used with the new Hybrid link to achieve the increased link/roller system wear benefit. The total link/roller system life improvement is approximately 40% more than the standard D7 link/roller system. Part numbers for the EWL components are listed in the 4th edition Undercarriage Parts Sales Kit. Appropriate wear charts for the regular and EWL rollers and idlers are found in the 15th edition Custom Track Service Handbook or software program PC CTS version 5.5.
? New sealed Hybrid link assemblies on the D7G and 235 Excavator have a larger outer diameter bushing than the former bushing. See Attachment II for new wear chart.
Hystat Loaders: 973
? The new Hybrid link has the same allowable wear material as the former 973 EWL link. The new link is slightly taller and the bushing bore slightly larger, see Attachment II for new link wear chart.
? The new larger bushing and tough steel segment will increase the wear life of both components. The bushing to sprocket and bushing to link wear balance will also improve. Also, early hour cosmetic ?tip wear? of the sprocket will be reduced with the new profile segment (Reference IRM UC04-21). See Attachment II for new bushing wear chart.
? Current 973 CTS wear charts are used for all other undercarriage components (shoes, rollers, idlers, carrier rollers).
