345B EXCAVATOR POSITIVE PIN RETENTION GREASE LUBRICATED LINK ASSEMBLY
Positive pin retention grease lubricated track link assembly is now available only in the parts system for 345B, 345B L, 345B Series II, & 345B L Series II. This new link assembly has the new positive pin retention system (PPR2), which increases track reliability over the current sealed and current greased lubricated track.
The new positive pin retention system (PPR2) mechanically locks the pin to the link by displacing material from the link pin boss area to the pin groove during assembly. This controls endplay and eliminates pin walking in tough high impact applications.
The new link assembly is also grease lubricated (GLT) and uses the larger bushing (1.5 mm larger bushing diameter), which is currently in production. The current sprocket segment can be used with the larger bushing diameter.
The new link assembly is interchangeable with the current grease lubricated and sealed link assemblies. The part numbers for the new positive pin retention grease lubricated track are listed in Attachment I.
Expect grease retention to be longer than for other GLT track due to the use of rigid track seals from track type tractor sealed and lubricated track.
Features
? Positive Pin Retention System (PPR2)
|
Benefits
? Mechanically locks the pin to the link, reduces end play and eliminates pin walking |
? Internally greased pin and bushing with seal |
? Improved replacement for sealed link assemblies. Minimum 25% increase in internal wear life (less pin and bushing wear). |
|
? Additional 2000 SMR before internal wear or evidence of lubricant loss. |
|
? Reduced undercarriage noise. |
|
? Reduced potential for frozen track joints. |
|
? More usable horsepower because of less internal friction. |
? Rigid Track Seal Assembly |
? Prevents debris from entering sealing system. ? Retains grease between pin and bushing. |
? Larger Bushing O.D. (1.5 mm) |
? Minimum of 20% increase in external bushing wear life. |
? Greased pin and larger bushing combined |
? Improves balance in component wear life. ? Extends undercarriage system life by 25-30%. ? Improved sprocket wear because system stays matched longer. |
Adaptability
The new link assembly is adaptable for all 345B & 345B Series II Excavator link assemblies using 24 mm bolt hardware. This new link assembly is NOT currently available as a factory attachment on new 345 Excavators.
Servicing
- When installing link assembly on the machine, apply grease to the master bushing bore prior to pressing in the pin. See Attachment I for a list of grease part numbers available through the parts department.
- For service of the link assembly, the track pin is pressed out of the link assembly by shearing the material in the groove.
- When performing service on grease lubricated track link assemblies (turning pins and bushings, replacing components) refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Bulletin (SEBF8622).
- During reassembly, the link is pressed onto the pin, and then by using the 266-9698 Contact tool in the track press, link material is swaged into the pin groove to mechanically lock the pin to the link.
Custom Track Service (CTS)
When performing CTS on 345B machines, refer to the 15th Edition of the CTS handbook (Media Number PEKP9400-03).
Summary
Positive pin retention grease lubricated tracks eliminates pin walking and provides additional external and internal bushing wear life, resulting in more robust link assembly.
