NOTE: This Program can be administered either before or after a failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS4965" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

NOTE: Although this Program is to be administered as described above on the Affected Product, Parts Stock And Dealer Exchange Units should be reworked before installation.

Problem

The contour seat needs to be repaired on certain D5H, D6H, D7H, D8N, D9N and D10N Track Type Tractors; D20D, D250, D300D, D40D, and D400D Articulated Trucks; 963 and 973 Track Loaders; 936F, 950F, 966F, and 980F Wheel Loaders; and on machines where replacement seats have been installed.

1. Any suspension group under the serial number of 827711. (The serial number is located on the front top of the suspension.)

2. the suspension group numbers are: 8Y5888 and 8Y5982.

B. Seat Group-Upper

1. Any seat group (upper) which does not have a serial number tag in the book box on the back of the seat.

2. Any seat which has a special serial number in the book box on the back of the seat under the serial number of 00144.

3. The seat group (upper) part numbers are : 8Y5883, 8Y5954, 8Y5976 and 8Y5986.

Follow Steps 1 below for the suspension repair and 2 below for the seat back adjustment repair.

Affected Product

Remove the seat and suspension from the machine. Take off the seat-upper, then:

1. Follow the instructions with the 8L6860 Spring Kit for removing and installing the new springs, guide bushings (these guides are white in color), and rods (longer than the rods that were removed) in the suspension group.

2. Follow the instructions included with the 8Y5999 Adjuster Kit for installation in the seat-upper. (Use the 9U6613 Spring Compressor Tool.)
