Problem
Certain C175 off-highway truck engines have experienced intermittent or unexpected engine shutdowns. These shutdowns have happened without a clear root cause and without fault codes being logged.
Solution
In the event of an unexpected shutdown, document and provide the following information to the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) to help with the root cause investigation.
- Cat® Machine Serial Number
- Shutdown Date
- Exact Time of Shutdown
- Mine Site Location
- Truck Hours
- Engine Hours
- Product Status Report
- ECM Replacement File
- Submit DSN - Provide Ticket Number
- VIMS Data
- ECM Mounting Location (Remote or Engine)
- Corrective actions completed to repair issue including the following:
- Troubleshooting Steps
- Specific Connectors or Components Inspected or Repaired
- Photos of any Found Issue
- Feedback about Repair Effectiveness
Note: The use of flywires or external jumpers is an acceptable practice for troubleshooting or short-term operation, but should never be left on the machine as a permanent repair. If a faulty or damage harness is detected, replace the harness.
