Start By:
- Remove crankshaft pulley.
- Remove the flywheel housing.
- Remove front crankshaft seal.
- Remove the oil pan.

Note: To prevent engine damage, do not alter or deface the fractured mating surfaces of connecting rod and cap. Do not reverse the connecting rod cap location.

Note: To prevent engine damage, keep the fractured mating surfaces of the connecting rod and cap clean and free of lint and debris. Do not allow the mating surfaces to rest on other surfaces. Do not bump the mating surfaces or drop the connecting rod or cap. Doing so could chip or mar the mating surfaces, causing incorrect mating of rod and cap.
- Remove bolts (1) and bolts (2). Remove oil suction tube assembly (3).

- Install crankshaft (11) in the reverse order of removal.
- Apply clean engine oil to the face of the bearings (13) before installing. Ensure that the back surface of the bearings is clean and free of oil and debris.
- Apply Tooling (B) to the surface of cylinder block bed (6) prior to installation.
- Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of
70 ± 4 N·m (52 ± 34 lb ft) . - Tighten bolts (8) an extra 60° ± 3°.
- Install new bolts (5).
