Introduction

This Special Instruction is intended to give information on installing the discharge flanges onto the fluid end for certain well stimulation pumps.

Do not perform any procedure in this Special Instruction until you have read the information and you understand the information.

Also ensure that you are following all safety precautions while you are performing the procedures outlined in this document.

Installation Procedure

Discharge Flange Installation

Note: Different discharge flange styles may be used that are not covered in this special instruction, connect the Dealer Solution Network (DSN) for additional information.

  1. Apply Loctite® Threadlocker Blue 242® to the threaded holes in the fluid end.

  2. Use an impact gun and stud driver to screw the studs into the six holes on the discharge side of the fluid end. Ensure that the studs are all bottomed out.

  4. Install discharge flange (1) onto studs (3). Secure discharge flange (1) to the fluid end with nuts (2).

  5. Hand-tighten nuts (2) until each nut is flush with the face of each stud (3).

Note: A 480-7356 Crowfoot Wrench is required for torquing the nuts.

(6) Metal inserts

  1. Disassemble the hammer union into five pieces.

  2. Remove snap ring (5) from metal inserts (6).

  3. Remove three metal inserts (6) that form the metal ring.

  4. Install casing (4) onto discharge flange (1) with the side that has the three handles facing towards discharge flange until the casing has cleared the tip of the discharge flange.

  5. Install three metal inserts (6) into casing (4). The metal inserts are at approximately 0 degree, 90 degree, and 270 degree angles of discharge flange (1).

Note: The thinner side of metal insert (6) faces toward casing (4).

  6. Install snap ring (5) onto the three metal inserts (6). Push casing (4) towards metal inserts (6) until the snap ring locks in place with the casing of the hammer union.

  7. Pull the hammer union unit forward until the hammer union reaches the tip of discharge flange (1) to confirm that the hammer union is installed securely.
