New Dual Speed Switch Is Now Available

Usage:

All Industrial, Marine, And Generator Set Engines Equipped With 5N8328 Or 3N9596 Dual Speed Switch Assemblies

Description of Change: A new dual speed switch is available for use on the above engines. The switch controls two separate speed conditions. One part of the switch controls the speed at which the starting motor pinion will disengage from the engine flywheel. The other part of the switch will cause the engine to stop operation if the engine overspeeds (runs too fast).

The former switch assemblies have had some failures because moisture (water) got into the inside of the cover assembly. This moisture damaged the electrical circuits of the switch assemblies.

The cover assembly in the new switch is more rigid and permits a better seal between it and the case. The changes will give the switch a longer service life. No changes were made to the operation of the electrical circuits.

Adaptable To: The new 5N8947 Dual Speed Switch Assembly is a direct replacement for the former 5N8328 and 3N9596 Switch Assemblies which have been canceled.
