Timing Pin Removed From Governor And Fuel Injection Pump Group; Change To Service Manuals

Usage:

3300 Series Engines With Sleeve Metering Fuel Systems

Description of Change: The timing pin has been removed from the basic governor and fuel injection pump group for the above engines. This timing pin is not needed because a timing pin is available separately as a dealer tool, and is also part of the sleeve metering field service tool group. The tool can be used any time it becomes necessary to check or adjust fuel system timing.

This change has an effect on the information given in the "Systems Operation - Testing and Adjusting" section of the Service Manual. Make a note in the Service Manual that the 3P1544 Fuel Pump Timing Pin (dealer tool) must be used for fuel system timing.

Adaptable To: All 3300 Series Engines with sleeve metering fuel systems. Use the 3P1544 Fuel Pump Timing Pin (dealer tool) for fuel system timing. The 3P1544 Timing Pin is also part of the 5P4203 Sleeve Metering Field Service Tool Group. The former 4N6430 Timing Pin (part of the basic governor and fuel injection pump group) is canceled. For parts service replacement in earlier pump groups, use one 9S4180 Plug and one 4J7533 Seal. Later pump groups do not have the hole for the timing pin.
