Relief Valve (Charge Pressure)
Illustration 1 | g02730952 |
(1) Relief valve (charge pressure) |
Relief valve (1) (charge pressure) is located on the left side of the transmission near the top of the modulating valves (transmission).
The relief valve receives oil flow directly from the hydraulic oil filter. The relief valve regulates the oil pressure in the transmission hydraulic system at a maximum pressure of 2482 kPa (360 psi).
ReferenceSee Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Charge Pressure)" for additional information.
Modulating Valves (Transmission)
Illustration 2 | g02730955 |
(2) Modulating valves (transmission) |
Modulating valves (2) are located on the side and the front of the transmission.
There are nine individual modulating valves. Each modulating valve modulates the flow of oil to a specific clutch in the transmission.
ReferenceSee Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Modulating Valve" for additional information.
Transmission Clutches
Nine transmission clutches are located in the transmission.
Each clutch pack and each planetary clutch pack is controlled by a corresponding modulating valve (transmission). There are nine modulating valves for the nine clutch assemblies.
ReferenceSee Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Transmission Clutches" for additional information.
Test Ports
Test Ports for the Modulating Valves (Transmission)
Illustration 3 | g02730959 |
(3) Test ports for modulating valves (transmission) |
Test port (3) is located on the modulating valve. There is a test port for each individual modulating valve.
This test port serves as the means for checking the oil pressure that is being delivered to each of the individual nine transmission clutches.
ReferenceSee Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Modulating Valve (Electronic Clutch Pressure Control) - Test" for additional information.
Test Port for Lubrication Pressure (Transmission)
Illustration 4 | g02730969 |
(4) Test port for lubrication pressure (transmission) |
Test port (4) for checking transmission lubrication pressure is located on the top left side of the transmission.
This port can be used to check the pressure of the hydraulic oil that is lubricating the transmission clutches.
ReferenceSee Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure for Transmission Lubrication - Test" for additional information.
Test Port for Hydraulic Oil Cooler
Illustration 5 | g02730978 |
(5) Test port for hydraulic oil cooler |
Test port (5) for the hydraulic oil cooler is located on the top of the transmission.
This test port is used to check the pressure of the hydraulic oil before entering the hydraulic oil cooler.
See Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Hydraulic Oil Cooler - Test" for additional information.
Test Port for the Transmission Hydraulic Control Valve
Illustration 6 | g02730993 |
(6) Test port for the transmission hydraulic control valve |
Test port (6) for the transmission hydraulic control valve is located on the left side of the transmission. This test port is used to check the main pressure of the transmission hydraulic system.
See Systems Operation/Testing and Adjusting, "Relief Valve (Transmission Hydraulic Control) - Test and Adjust" for additional information.
