Description of Change: The bolted joint for the differential ring gear has been improved. This improvement will prevent the bolts from loosening. New washers and bolts are now used to attach the bevel gear to the housing on certain Wheel Tractor-Scrapers. The new washers and longer bolts will increase the strength of the bolted joint.
Adaptable To: Table 1 shows the effectivity of the new parts on the Wheel Tractor-Scrapers.

Earlier machines can be updated by replacing the existing 8T-0799 Bolts and 5P-8245 Hard Washers with 1T-0388 Bolts and 1F-7960 Washers .
Note: In addition to this change, a lock patch has been added to the 1T-0388 Bolts. Existing stock of this bolt without the lock patch will be exhausted. If 1T-0388 Bolts without lock patch are used, apply 4C-4030 Thread Lock Compound or 9S-3263 Thread Lock Compound to the threads of the bolts before installing.Tighten the bolts to 135 ± 15 N·m (100 ± 11 lb ft).
