Fuel Transfer Pump - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Fuel leaked or spilled onto hot surfaces or electrical components can cause a fire.

Turn the disconnect switch OFF when draining and/or removing any fuel system components.

----------------------


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Typical Example

  1. Disconnect tube assembly (3). Cover all openings immediately.

  1. Remove two bolts (2) and the seal washers.

  1. Remove fuel transfer pump (1) and the gasket.

  1. Position the gasket and fuel transfer pump (1) .

  1. Install two bolts (2) and the seal washers.

  1. Connect tube assembly (3) .
