- Track-Type Tractor:
- D10R (S/N: 3KR1-UP; AKT1-UP)
Description of Change: New end seals have an improved geometry that will increase the service life of the seal.
Adaptable To: The new 207-7107 Seals are effective with D10R (S/N: AKT247-UP) Track-Type Tractors. This seal replaces the former 9X-7500 Seal .
The new end seals are adaptable to D10R (S/N: AKT1-246; 3KR1-UP) Track-Type Tractors.
Due to the larger diameter of the new end seals, new components for the equalizer bar assembly are required. You can use one of the two following options to install the new seals.
- Order a new equalizer bar assembly that will include the new seal.
- Machine the current equalizer bar in order to make the bar compatible to the new seal.
Note: If your equalizer bar does not have four set screws on either end, a new equalizer bar assembly must be ordered in order to use the new 207-7107 Seal. Use the "Description" column in Table 1 to order parts.If your machine is used in an arctic application, use the new 223-9058 Seal instead of the 207-7107 Seal. This new seal for arctic applications replaces the former 130-2563 Seal .
The change to the new 207-7107 Seal is highly recommended. The former 8E-7754 Seal will continue to be available for customers in specific applications that prefer to use grease. Also, the former 9X-7500 Seal will continue to be available for customers that prefer to use this seal. A sleeve can be used to allow the former seals to be used with the improved equalizer bars. For information on the use of the 8E-7754 Seal or the 9X-7500 Seal with the new equalizer bars, proceed to "Fabricating a Sleeve to use with Former Seals".
Ordering a New Equalizer Bar
See Table 1 for part numbers in order to replace your current parts.
Ordering Parts     | ||
Current Equalizer Bar     | Description     | Group to Order     |
3T-2284     | Standard     | 222-3676     |
161-9228     | Toe-Out and Camber     | 222-3682     |
3T-2284     | Arctic     | 226-0463     |
The groups are preassembled with a new seal. After ordering the group that corresponds to your current equalizer bar, simply install the equalizer bar pads and install the new equalizer bar assembly.
Machining Your Current Equalizer Bar
The following procedure is for machining your current equalizer bar in order for the equalizer bar to be compatible with the new 207-7107 Seal or the 223-9058 Seal.
Required Tool     | |||
Item     | Part Number     | Part Description     | Qty     |
A     | 1P-0520     | Driver Group     | 1     |
- Bore counterbore (1) to 148 ± 0.04 mm (5.8 ± 0.002 inch).

- Chamfer the rim of the portion that was just bored. See Illustration 1 for dimensions.
- Inspect the bore for any burrs or sharp edges that could interfere with installing the seal. Smooth all the burrs and the sharp edges that are on the bore.
- Inspect the seal for any damage. Clean the seal with 138-8440 Component Cleaner .
- Clean the bore with 138-8440 Component Cleaner. Put 169-5464 Quick Cure Primer on the inside diameter of the bore.
- Apply 7M-7456 Bearing Mount Compound to outside diameter (AA) of the seal.

- Repeat this procedure on the other side of the equalizer bar and on the other end of the equalizer bar.
Fabricating a Sleeve to use with Former Seals
With a machined sleeve, the new equalizer bars can accept the former 8E-7754 Seal or 9X-7500 Seal.

- Use ASTM A36 Steel to machine four sleeves. See Illustration 5 for dimensions.
- Inspect the sleeves for any burrs or sharp edges that could interfere with installing the seal. Smooth all the burrs and the sharp edges that are on the sleeve.
- Apply 7M-7456 Bearing Mount Compound to the outer diameter of the sleeves.
- Press the four sleeves into the equalizer bar.
