Operational Checks

Usage:

627G AYK
The operational checks that follow are designed to instruct the service personnel on the proper way to troubleshoot the transmission. The checks and procedures are set in a sequence in order to find most problems and probable causes in a quick manner. These operational checks must be done in order. Start with "Check 1". Do not go to the next check until either the problem is resolved or the text instructs you to go on. If the correct result for the check is found, proceed to the next check.

Machine Preparation for Checks

  1. Follow the instructions that are provided in the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting".

  1. Check the oil level for the tractor engine and the scraper engine (if equipped). Check the coolant level for the tractor engine and the scraper engine (if equipped). Check the oil level for the tractor transmission and the scraper transmission (if equipped). Check the hydraulic oil for the tractor.

Make sure that the transmission oil is SAE 30W oil and that No. 2 diesel fuel is used for the engine(s).

Note: Under these conditions, the oil level in the transmission may be above the "FULL" mark. While the engine is running, the transmission oil must be at the normal temperature for operation.

  1. The tachometer should be at zero rpm.

  1. The tractor engine and the scraper engine (if equipped) must be OFF. Keep the engine(s) in the OFF position until you are instructed to start the engine.

------ WARNING! ------

To prevent personal injury when checks are made while the machine is in operation, make sure only approved personnel are on the machine. Keep other personnel off the machine and in view of the operator. Make sure checks are done in an open area.

----------------------

Note: The parking brakes must be ON, until you are instructed differently.

Take note of all "WARNINGS" and "NOTICES" in these checks. Never start the next check until the warnings are read and understood completely.

The checks that follow can be used to find many of the problems that are found during the operation of the machine. These checks can also assist in locating the system that has the problem.
