Exhaust Bypass - Inspect
For instructions on removal and installation, see the Service Manual, "Disassembly and Assembly".
- Remove the exhaust bypass valve.

The exhaust bypass valve cover is under spring compression. To prevent personal injury, use caution when removing the cover.
- Disassemble the valve.

(1) Diaphragm
(2) Valve stem
(3) Breather - Inspect diaphragm (1). If the diaphragm is worn or cracked, replace the diaphragm.
- Inspect valve stem (2). If the valve stem is excessively worn, replace the valve and the base.
- Clean breather (3).
- Assemble the valve.
- Install the valve.
